California Adventure

I am very **very** behind on blogging <sorry!!> and one of the big reasons is that I have been a traveling machine since November 2013. This January, I was able to cross off one of my bucket list items and drive the California Coast! My sister, Lindsay, and I drove a little less than 700 miles on the Pacific Coast Highway from San Diego to San Francisco, with a stop off in wine country (of course). If you haven’t done this, add it to your bucket list…seriously…right now…..I’ll wait!

Anyways, I wanted to share some photos and highlights from the trip. Rather than ramble on, I will do it in photo-list form:

We ended up with a lime green mustang for the trip – we named her “green pony” and was like a 3rd member of our crew

Balboa Park in San Diego was beautiful!!

Stone Brewery in Escondido – AWESOME! Worth the stop!

Witnessing one of the top 5 sunsets I have ever seen in my life at Santa Monica Pier

But seriously....it was incredible!

Running into Aaron Paul outside of a bar in LA – you can’t plan for that, but it was definitely a highlight!

Getting the insiders tour of Justin Vineyards in Paso Robles. We may or may not have purchased a case and a half of wine.....

California wine country is amazing! Bucket-list addendum, get back there in the FALL someday! (*future brides - hint hint*)

We ended up on the coast during elephant seal mating season

The northern coast drive was unreal!

The scary winding cliff-hugging roads near Big Sur on the northern coast was my favorite portion of the drive!! “Let’s try to go at least 5 miles without stopping” “Ok….but look at this….let’s stop here real quick” – that is what the entire drive was!

17-mile drive in Monterey

I will absolutely go back to Monterrey someday, and I can’t wait! It was breath-taking!

Green Pony in Monterrey, looking all cute!

And now the good part - Wine Tasting in Napa Valley!!

Vineyards and vineyards and vineyard for miles

We even got to drink wine straight from the barrel! (while this seems like a very exclusive privilege, I would recommend waiting it out...they age it for a reason)

Our grand finale was at Stags’ Leap Estate in Napa Valley, and we truly did save the best for last!

The trip was such an amazing experience. I'm so lucky to have been able to celebrate my birthday that way and also have the best travel companion I could ask for in my sister.  I can't recommend the drive enough to everyone - and if you need a nav, I'm in! Now wedding season is officially in full swing so expect more blogs soon - and keep an eye on the FaceBook Page for teasers!
