Nicole and Clifton's Rochester, NY Wedding

This October I had the honor of photographing a friend’s wedding with whom I attended both high-school and college with.  Due to this, I ended up knowing a very large number of people in the bridal party and guests at the wedding. The only (very rare) exception, was that I did not actually know the Bride, Nicole, and I didn’t meet her until the wedding day.

Nicole and Clifton met working at Hollister in Rochester, NY. Then they ended up moving to Colorado together! They celebrated their union in both Rochester, NY and Longmont, CO.

As I walked into the suite where the ladies were getting ready, Nicole was getting her hair done. She stopped to give me a hug upon introduction and then said “just tell us what to do”. My incredibly talented 2nd shooter Jacqueline Mix of Jacqueline Mix Photography and I got started with the badass “Bride” bright blue Chuck Taylors that Nicole would be wearing!

Aside from her incredibly laid back demeanor, to stating “I’m not a girly girl”, I really knew that I loved Nicole when she requested photos of her and her sister jumping on the bed before she got into her dress, and of course her Mom joined in as well!

I sent Jacque over to hang with the guys and score some of these great photos of Clifton. I'm sure she had her hands full trying to get some alone time with Clifton since he had ten hilariously entertaining groomsmen by his side.

There ceremony was short, sweet, filled with laughs, a few tears of joy, and even selfies! Nicole and Clifton both wrote their own vows, which turned out to be remarkably similar even though they had never shared them with each other until the wedding day. I guess maybe that isn't a huge surprise when you've been with someone for such a long time!

Jacque and I had a blast doing photos with the families and bridal party. I think the guys were just as into the photos as the ladies! The group kept us, and eachother, laughing while braving the elements of wind and rain; you can't even tell in the photos! What an awesome crew to work with and also hang out with!!

Nicole and Clif let me steal them away before they were officially announced so they could have a little bit of alone time (well, "alone" with me). The wedding day is such a whirlwind, it is always nice to have a little bit of quiet time before the evening festivities. These two were so adorable and couldn't stop laughing! Their genuine happiness, excitement, and appreciation for each other really set the tone for the entire day!

The reception was certainly a night to remember. Touching wedding speeches had everyone laughing and in tears.  Parent dances got the entire bridal party involved! The dance-floor was always packed - aside from when Clifton cleared it out for his Dirty Dancing-esque lift (see above)! Once it was time to wrap up, Nicole and Clifton urged Jacque and I to join the party, because that is just how awesome they both are!

I can't thank you both enough for letting Jacque and I capture the moments of your wedding day! I feel incredibly lucky to call you BOTH friends and I look forward to the next time we can hang maybeeeee you can have another celebration in Rochester next year?! :)

2015 Year in Review

I have a confession to make…..I have been really ready to say good riddance to 2015 and welcome the New Year. However, upon my annual reflection and “year in review”, I realized that overall, my year wasn’t as bad as I thought. In fact, while looking back at the highlight reel, it actually appears that it was…dare I say….good! Granted, 2015 did bring a handful of trials and tribulations, but it also brought so many amazing experiences with incredible travel adventures, tons of new friends, new babies, weddings, many reasons to celebrate, and fantastic reunions with old friends. So in 2016 I resolve to not let the lows over-shadow the highs, because I really do have so much to be thankful for! Without further adieu, I give you my 2015 highlight reel!

January, I spent most of my time on the sunny west coast while Boston dealt with their first wave of Nor’easterns.

CES 2015

In February, I travelled to Dublin, Galway, and Killarney with two of my wonderful best friends! If you haven't been there you must go!! I can't wait to get back to Ireland and explore the North.

On April 7th, two of my closest friends welcomed their first baby, Archer.  I was lucky enough to be one of his first visitors and sneak in some newborn photos!

In April I also explored Paris and Barcelona with my college freshman year roommate, Liz. Both cities are so unique and wonderful in very different ways!

In May I was asked to photograph Martha’s Vineyard Winefest, thanks to my wonderful friends at Vintage MV Wine and Spirits ( You should plan to attend in 2016 – the food and wine are incredible – and I’ll be there too!!

Sara and Kevin got married on a perfect day in May at Singing Beach Club. (Click here for more photos:

In July, two more of my closest friends welcomed their first baby, Bradley, presenting another opportunity for a photoshoot!

I was in my best friend since kindergarten’s wedding in August – and obviously had to sneak in a few photos. You can take the bridesmaid out of the photographer, but you can’t take the photographer out of the bridesmaid!

I got to photograph and attend one of my best High-School friend’s shibori workshops. She is incredibly talented, passionate, and a wealth of knowledge. I strongly encourage you to check it out if you’re in the Rochester area:

I spent most of the summer 2nd shooting with so many of my incredibly talented photographer friends: Megan Braemore (, Tara Lynn Sen (, and Janelle Carmella (

While I was in Rochester, I got to spend the afternoon with adorable Celia and her wonderful parents, Sara and Dan.

I wrapped up my wedding season on Martha’s Vineyard again, photographing Amy and Howard's stunning fall wedding at Atria in Edgartown (

I finished up the year celebrating Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, and Christmas in different states with different parts of my family and friends (the family you choose). It was the perfect way to wrap up the year with my loved ones!

Sara & Kevin's Manchester by the Sea Wedding

Sara and Kevin met at a New Years Eve party, at which they were the only two single people there. As fate would have it, they hit it off immediately! After spending a year and a half dating long distance,  they were finally able to reunite in Boston and move in together. Kevin and his family are from the North Shore - so Singing Beach and Manchester by the Sea hold a lot of memories, not only for Kevin, but for the couple. On their one year anniversary of living together, Kevin took Sara to a spot near Singing Beach where it looked like you could see forever....and at that point asked if she would spend forever with him! So of course it seemed very fitting that the couple had a gorgeous Manchester by the Sea wedding ceremony at Tuck's Point, and the wedding reception at Singing Beach Club.

Upon our multiple meetings, Sara mentioned her desire to do a first look, but Kevin was more hesitant. They ended up agreeing on doing the first look with Sara walking down the ceremony aisle, while Kevin was positioned at the front. It was perfect and intimate. Then we were able to walk around Tuck's Point and sneak in a few more photos before everyone else arrived.

Family formals and bridal party portraits were all taken prior to the ceremony so that everyone would be able to enjoy the champagne toast that immediately followed. The bridal party was also taken to the Singing Beach Club on a boat! They celebrated with bubbles and dancing the entire time....definitely my kind of party! :)

Singing Beach Club was the perfect venue for this group, with lawn games and cocktail hour outside, and beach access with Sara and Kevin's actual proposal spot in sight! The wedding went well into the evening and it was filled with dancing, love, and laughter!

Congratulations again Sara and Kevin! You truly are exceptional and have surrounded yourselves with wonderful people. You deserve a lifetime of love and happiness together!
