Liz and Phil had an incredible intimate ceremony followed by a night on the (Province) Town on the Funk Bus! I don’t know if many couples have more fun than these two!
Howard works for Frog’s Leap Winery and I was fortunate enough to be introduced to him through my friends at MV Vintage Wine shop. According to Amy’s daughter Meaghan's speech, the couple fittingly met at a wine event! Meaghan joked that her Mom was smitten from the beginning and was asking for advice about what she should say in her email to Howard. I guess whatever she said worked, because the two got married on a beautiful October Day outside of Atria in Edgartown.
All of the ladies got ready at The Hob Knob. Amy had both her Mother and daughter with her, in addition to Howard's two daughters. While the girls twirled their dresses and giggled, Amy’s Mom graciously helped me bring the dress outside for some photos before we got Amy into it!
Meanwhile, Howard and his family were all anxiously waiting at Atria for guests to start arriving. The weather couldn't have been more perfect and Atria's front yard provided a stunning backdrop for the ceremony!
Howard, Amy, their families and guests all laughed and cried (just a little) as the two said their vows.
After stealing the couple away for some portraits, they happily rejoined their celebration. Everyone ate, drank, sang, danced, and laughed the entire night away. I don't think the dance floor was empty for even a moment!
Congratulations to Amy and Howard - I wish you both a lifetime of happiness! It was such a pleasure to spend the day surrounded by such wonderful family and friends that you two have in your lives! The amount of joy was overwhelming and I couldn't have taken a bad photo if I tried!
I hope to see you both again on the Vineyard soon! Xo-
This October I had the honor of photographing a friend’s wedding with whom I attended both high-school and college with. Due to this, I ended up knowing a very large number of people in the bridal party and guests at the wedding. The only (very rare) exception, was that I did not actually know the Bride, Nicole, and I didn’t meet her until the wedding day.
Nicole and Clifton met working at Hollister in Rochester, NY. Then they ended up moving to Colorado together! They celebrated their union in both Rochester, NY and Longmont, CO.
As I walked into the suite where the ladies were getting ready, Nicole was getting her hair done. She stopped to give me a hug upon introduction and then said “just tell us what to do”. My incredibly talented 2nd shooter Jacqueline Mix of Jacqueline Mix Photography and I got started with the badass “Bride” bright blue Chuck Taylors that Nicole would be wearing!
Aside from her incredibly laid back demeanor, to stating “I’m not a girly girl”, I really knew that I loved Nicole when she requested photos of her and her sister jumping on the bed before she got into her dress, and of course her Mom joined in as well!
I sent Jacque over to hang with the guys and score some of these great photos of Clifton. I'm sure she had her hands full trying to get some alone time with Clifton since he had ten hilariously entertaining groomsmen by his side.
There ceremony was short, sweet, filled with laughs, a few tears of joy, and even selfies! Nicole and Clifton both wrote their own vows, which turned out to be remarkably similar even though they had never shared them with each other until the wedding day. I guess maybe that isn't a huge surprise when you've been with someone for such a long time!
Jacque and I had a blast doing photos with the families and bridal party. I think the guys were just as into the photos as the ladies! The group kept us, and eachother, laughing while braving the elements of wind and rain; you can't even tell in the photos! What an awesome crew to work with and also hang out with!!
Nicole and Clif let me steal them away before they were officially announced so they could have a little bit of alone time (well, "alone" with me). The wedding day is such a whirlwind, it is always nice to have a little bit of quiet time before the evening festivities. These two were so adorable and couldn't stop laughing! Their genuine happiness, excitement, and appreciation for each other really set the tone for the entire day!
The reception was certainly a night to remember. Touching wedding speeches had everyone laughing and in tears. Parent dances got the entire bridal party involved! The dance-floor was always packed - aside from when Clifton cleared it out for his Dirty Dancing-esque lift (see above)! Once it was time to wrap up, Nicole and Clifton urged Jacque and I to join the party, because that is just how awesome they both are!
I can't thank you both enough for letting Jacque and I capture the moments of your wedding day! I feel incredibly lucky to call you BOTH friends and I look forward to the next time we can hang out.....like maybeeeee you can have another celebration in Rochester next year?! :)
